Blue Tab 100A — G21 Post-Flood Damage Documentation

GUARDRAIL: BLUE — G21 BASE DAMAGES

This tab is part of Blue Volume 05 — G21 Base Damages. It documents compensable losses arising directly from the October 2019 flood at Unit G21, 97 Green Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222. All figures in this section are base damages only — before punitive multipliers, interest, or policy adjustments.

POSTURE NOTE — Post-Flood Visual Documentation

This document presents 156 photographs and 25 videos documenting the October 2019 flood event at Unit G21, 97 Green Street, Brooklyn, NY. The media captures active flooding, standing water depths of 4–5 inches, and damage to personal property including IKEA MALM bedroom furniture documented in Tab 100's pre-flood baseline. Video recordings carry preserved QuickTime creation timestamps beginning at 00:19:39 EDT on October 14, 2019, spanning 9 recording windows through October 24.

The photographs and videos provide visual evidence supporting damage claims across multiple categories: property destruction (Tab 101), business income losses from studio destruction (Tab 102), and the necessity of alternative housing (Tab 103). Key evidentiary elements include measured water depths, furniture submersion documenting wicking damage to particleboard, brand identification across 10 manufacturers, mold contamination on bedding and personal property, and the extent of flooding throughout the unit.

All media follows the table format established in White Tab 116 (G21 Leaks Documentation), Parts D.2 and D.3.

Section 1: Source Authentication

1.1 Chain of Custody

Stage Date Description
Original Capture October 2019 iPhone photographs and video taken during active flood event
Contemporaneous Transmission October 2019 Media sent via text/email to Attorney Eric Sherman
iPhone Loss ~2020–2021 Hard factory reset after screen replacement destroyed originals
Recovery Subsequent Attorney Sherman returned copies to client
Current Status 2026 These are the only existing copies (156 photos + 25 videos)

Standard chain of custody: iPhone → Attorney Sherman (Oct 2019) → Returned copies

1.2 Metadata Status

Photos: EXIF data stripped during text/email transmission. The original iPhone photographs contained full EXIF data (DateTimeOriginal, GPS coordinates, device information), but this metadata was not preserved during transmission to counsel.

Videos: QuickTime creation timestamps preserved on all 19 native MOV files (V-002 through V-017, V-023 through V-025). HandBrake date tags preserved on 5 re-encoded files (V-018 through V-022). V-001 was also re-encoded via HandBrake but its creation date was not preserved. In total, 24 of 25 videos carry preserved date/time metadata. See Section 3.2 for the complete video metadata table.

1.3 Date Verification — Four Independent Sources

October 2019 documentation dates are verified by multiple independent sources:

Source Evidence
Preserved Video Timestamps QuickTime creation dates on native MOV files document active flood recording beginning at 00:19:39 EDT on October 14, 2019 (V-002), with additional timestamped recordings at 00:20:11 (V-016), 00:20:51 (V-025), and 00:22:26 (V-017). Subsequent videos carry timestamps spanning October 14 afternoon through October 24, 2019 across 9 recording windows. Two devices documented: iPhone X (iOS 13.1.2) and iPhone 6s (iOS 12.1.2).
Attorney Records Eric Sherman's email/text records show contemporaneous receipt in October 2019
Insurance Records Great American E&S date of loss: October 14, 2019 (WT-103)
Visual Corroboration Photo 026 shows pumpkin (seasonal autumn confirmation); photos show active water intrusion with ripple patterns consistent with documented flood event

1.4 Attorney Verification

Attorney Eric Sherman can provide declaration or testimony confirming:

  • Receipt of photographs and videos via text/email in October 2019
  • Context of transmission (client documenting active flood emergency)
  • Timestamp records from email/text communications

This third-party contemporaneous receipt, combined with preserved QuickTime video timestamps, provides robust authentication. Attorney records establish independent verification of the October 2019 documentation period, while native video metadata provides precise date and time confirmation for each recording.

1.7 HD Archive Note

All photographs were received as compressed copies (average ~300–400 KB per image, ~1500x2000 px). Original full-resolution captures were lost with the iPhone factory reset. The compressed versions are the best available copies and are accepted as evidentiary originals given the documented chain of custody through Attorney Sherman. Of the 25 videos, 19 are native MOV files with preserved QuickTime metadata; 6 were re-encoded via HandBrake 1.10.2 during the transmission/return process (compression is analogous to JPEG photo compression and does not affect evidentiary content). Five browser-incompatible HEVC videos were additionally re-encoded to MP4 for web display (v1.1.2); original metadata classification is unchanged.

Cross-references V-003 (studio monitor visible in daylight walkthrough) and V-019 (electronic equipment on damaged rug).

V-025 — Nighttime Loft Walkthrough (00:20:51 EDT, October 14):

  • 00:00–00:03: Very dark interior. White structural column at center. Hanging bare light bulb fixture visible at left. Dark shapes of furniture/boxes.
  • 00:03–00:06: Extremely dark. Faint outlines of doorway/partition and stored items. Minimal discernible detail.
  • 00:06–00:09: Hanging bare light bulb fixture glowing against dark interior. Folding metal chair visible below. Dark shapes of displaced items.
  • 00:09–00:12: Bare light bulb hanging from cord. Red/warm glow visible at left (equipment LED or emergency light). Boxes and personal items in dim conditions. Floor surface faintly visible.
  • 00:12–00:15: Very dark. Red glow from equipment. Faint reflections on surfaces. Kitchen area barely discernible.
  • 00:15–00:17: Kitchen area visible: butcher block counter surface, dark equipment (possibly studio-related), bar stool, bright point light source. Most detail-rich frame due to brief camera stabilization.
  • Audio: Mono track present throughout (17.2s); content not yet reviewed (flagged for manual listen/transcription). WT-116 original filename "Laurie_ThisIsCrazy.MOV" indicates emotional reaction to flood conditions — audio transcription potentially valuable.
  • CONTEXT: Captured at 00:20:51 EDT during active nighttime flood. Timestamp places this 1 minute 12 seconds after V-002 (00:19:39), 40 seconds after V-016 (00:20:11), and 1 minute 35 seconds before V-017 (00:22:26). Third device in the 00:19–00:22 recording cluster.
  • WT-116 CROSS-REFERENCE: Same recording as WT-116 V-03 (Laurie_ThisIsCrazy.MOV). Timestamp match: 00:20:51 exact. Duration match: 17.2s vs 17s. Resolution match: 1920x1080. Device match: iPhone 6s. Per Option A: kept with cross-reference notation. Fourth confirmed WT-116 overlap in Sherman return set.
  • UNIQUE VALUE: First 1920x1080 iPhone 6s video in Sherman return set — confirms iPhone 6s used multiple resolution settings (1280x720 for V-016/V-017 vs 1920x1080 here). H.264 High profile (vs Main for V-016/V-017). Higher resolution provides slightly more detail than V-016/V-017 in similar lighting conditions.

Version History

Version Date Changes
v0.1 2026-02-01 Initial draft with Batch 01 (10 photos); Sections 2–9 placeholder
v1.0 2026-02-01 Complete rewrite. Integrated all 156 photos across 15 batches into unified WT-116-format table. Added video V-001 with full technical metadata and keyframe contact sheet. Added 11 evidentiary observation subsections. Added series tracking (19 series), brand documentation (10 brands), cross-reference matrix. Replaced batch-by-batch structure with single unified archive. Fixed guardrail to canonical Blue scope statement. Updated photo count from ~200 to 156. Added HD archive note.
v1.0.1 2026-02-01 Added videos V-002 (IMG_4163.mov), V-003 (IMG_4179.mov), V-004 (IMG_4182.mov). V-002 is nighttime loft walkthrough with WT-116 V-01 cross-reference (probable same recording via different transmission path). V-003 and V-004 are UNIQUE daytime aftermath walkthroughs (16:31-16:35 EDT, ~16 hours post-flood). Section 3.1 expanded to 4 video rows. Section 3.2 metadata table expanded to 4 columns with SHA256 hashes and QT creation dates. Section 3.3 added 3 contact sheets. Section 3.4 added 3 observation blocks with timestamped descriptions. All three videos are native MOV files with QuickTime metadata preserved (not re-encoded).
v1.0.2 2026-02-01 Added videos V-005 through V-011 (7 videos: IMG_4238.MOV, IMG_4255.mov, IMG_4257.MOV, IMG_4298.MOV, IMG_4299.MOV, IMG_4319.mov, IMG_4372.MOV). All UNIQUE — no WT-116 overlap (timestamps Oct 15–18, outside WT-116 nighttime window). 5 new recording windows discovered spanning Oct 15–18. First HEVC (H.265) files in set (V-007, V-008, V-009, V-011 at 1920x1080). V-006 documents wall cavity 2-foot cut with contaminated insulation (cross-refs WT-113). V-008/V-009 form mattress damage documentation pair. V-010 documents water extraction equipment (shop vac) on damaged rug. Section 3.1 expanded to 11 video rows. Section 3.2 expanded to 11 columns. Section 3.3 added 7 contact sheets (adapted grid intervals for short videos). Section 3.4 added 7 observation blocks. Recording windows header updated to reflect Oct 14–18 span.
v1.0.3 2026-02-01 Added videos V-012 through V-017 (6 videos: IMG_4376.mov, IMG_4377.mov, IMG_4446.mov, IMG_4448.mov, IMG_7948.mov, IMG_7950.mov). 4 UNIQUE + 2 WT-116 overlaps. V-012/V-013 form sofa water damage documentation pair (Oct 18 afternoon, ~48s apart). V-014/V-015 are Oct 24 recordings — 10 days post-flood — extending documentation span from 4 days to 10 days. V-014 shows headlamp-required conditions; V-015 shows respirator use AND standing water still present at Day 10 (ProForm 635CW treadmill in pooled water). V-016 = WT-116 V-02 (Laurie_SallyG4OffCameraAudio.MOV); V-017 = WT-116 V-04 (Laurie_DialogAboutSrinklerBreak.MOV) — both kept with cross-reference per Option A. First iPhone 6s videos in set (landscape 1280x720, 29.97fps). 2 new recording windows added: Oct 18 afternoon (14:12–14:13 EDT) and Oct 24 morning (11:03–11:08 EDT). Documentation now spans Oct 14–24, 2019 (9 recording windows). Section 3.1 expanded to 17 rows. Section 3.2 expanded to 17 columns. Section 3.3 added 6 contact sheets. Section 3.4 added 6 observation blocks.
v1.0.4 2026-02-01 Added videos V-018 through V-022 (5 HandBrake-compressed videos: IMG_4180.mp4, IMG_4181.mp4, IMG_4237.mp4, IMG_4239.mp4, IMG_4258.mp4). All UNIQUE (no WT-116 overlaps). Key discovery: HandBrake preserved original iOS date tag. Industrial rental dehumidifier documented (V-022). Standing water at Day 2 documented (V-020). All H.264 High profile.
v1.1 2026-02-01 FINAL VIDEO VERSION. Added videos V-023 through V-025 (3 native MOV files: IMG_4303.MOV, IMG_4447.MOV, IMG_7949.MOV). 2 UNIQUE + 1 WT-116 overlap: V-025 = WT-116 V-03 (Laurie_ThisIsCrazy.MOV) — kept per Option A. V-023 extends Oct 17 mattress documentation (HEVC 1920x1080, forms trio with V-008/V-009). V-024 documents PA/studio speaker equipment in standing water at Day 10 — Freeman Street equipment connection (captured between V-014 and V-015 in Oct 24 session). V-025 is first 1920x1080 iPhone 6s video in Sherman return set — confirms multiple resolution settings on same device (H.264 High vs Main profile). Total: 25 videos (V-001 through V-025), 156 photos. 4 WT-116 overlaps total (V-002=V-01, V-016=V-02, V-017=V-04, V-025=V-03). 9 recording windows spanning Oct 14–24, 2019. All video and photo processing COMPLETE.
v1.1.2 2026-02-02 Re-encoded 5 browser-incompatible videos (V-007, V-008, V-009, V-023, V-024) from raw iPhone HEVC .mov/.MOV to HandBrake .mp4. Updated all media links and canonical filenames to reflect .mp4 extension. No content changes.
v1.2 2026-03-24 Section 1 authentication framework updated to reflect full 25-video archive. Section 1.2 retitled "Metadata Status" with photo/video distinction (photo EXIF stripped; 24 of 25 videos carry preserved date/time metadata). Section 1.3 restructured from "Three Independent Sources" to "Four Independent Sources" — preserved video timestamps now lead as primary date verification; insurance date of loss added; Eagles poster reference removed. Section 1.4 updated to reference video metadata alongside attorney records. Section 1.6 expanded from V-001-only table to full 25-video summary with device, codec, metadata status, and date span. Section 1.7 HD Archive Note updated to cover native MOV and HandBrake re-encode categories. Section 3 header corrected (V-001 does not carry HandBrake date tag). Chain of custody line updated to "156 photos + 25 videos." Section 5 summary updated with photo/video metadata distinction. No changes to Sections 2, 3, or 4 content.
v1.1.1 2026-02-01 Section 3.1 column consistency fix. V-018 through V-025 rows reduced from 12 columns to 9 columns matching V-001–V-017 pattern. Removed inline Overlap Status, Quality, and Evidentiary fields (data retained in Section 3.2 metadata table). Restored [View](media/...) clickable links for V-018–V-025 (previously bare "Interior" text). Moved V-025 WT-116 V-03 cross-reference into Scene Description field matching established CROSS-REF pattern from V-002, V-016, V-017. No content removed — structural normalization only.
